Long blonde hair tickled her cheeks as she reached up on her tiptoes to kiss him.  His lips were cool to the touch, pleasant on this warm summer day.  She imagined it might not be quite so nice in the middle of winter, but she put such thoughts aside.  She would kiss him 'til her lips fell off from frostbite.  She didn't care.  She loved him.
Jacey giggled.  She supposed she was keeping him from his work.  Oh well.  Whatever he was doing in that laboratory of his, it could wait.  She had the right to spend a little time alone with her husband.
She leaned into him, enjoying the chill radiating from his body - her own personal air conditioner.  That made her giggle even more.
"Well, my dear, I fail to see what is so funny."
Jacey looked up to see green eyes staring down at her quizzically.  She giggled some more.  "Sorry, Vexen, I was just thinking about something."
"I see."  He hesitated a moment before continuing.  "I have been thinking about something as well.  True, I am always thinking about something, but in this particular matter, I would like your input."
Jacey stifled her giggles and attempted to be serious.  "Oh?  And what matter would that be?"
Vexen cleared his throat.  "Since we have been married, I wonder if you have given any thought as to whether or not you think the two of us ought to have children.  It seems to me to be the next logical step in our relationship; however, I thought it best to ask your opinion before proceeding toward this end."
Jacey almost laughed again.  He spoke as though he were asking her opinion on a scientific theory!  Then she considered what he had said.  To tell the truth, Jacey hadn't thought very much about the possibility of having children with Vexen.  She was so happy just to have him, that she didn't think she needed anyone else.  But having children would mean more people to love and to be loved by.  There was never any harm in more love.  The more she thought about it, the more she liked the thought.
Seeing Vexen patiently awaiting her answer, she leaned up on her tiptoes once more and kissed his icy cheek.  "It is a completely logical idea," she agreed.
He smiled.  "Very well, then.  I see no reason why we should not start immediately."
Jacey was slightly taken aback by his abruptness.  Well, she thought, why not?  She closed her eyes and tilted back her head to be kissed.
What she felt next, however, was not his cold lips on her own, but rather a sharp prick on her scalp.
"What the…?"  She opened her eyes to see Vexen, tweezers in hand, headed in the direction of his laboratory.  In the tweezers were several strands of gold that had once been attached to her head.
Jacey started after him, rubbing the spot where her hair had been pulled out.  "Hold on a sec!  Vexen, where…?"
Hearing her voice, he stopped and turned around.  "Ah, forgive me.  I suppose you might like to be involved in this process."
She gaped at him incredulously.  "Well, that's how these sorts of things usually work!"
Vexen nodded, finally understanding her confusion.  "That is true," he agreed.  "That is how the production of children is usually accomplished.  However, I have a better, more scientific method.  The traditional approach involves far too many variables.  This way, we shall have much greater control over the outcome.  Besides," he added.  "I would rather spare you from the pain normally involved in bringing children into the world."
Academic, as always, Jacey thought with a sigh.  Though, he did have a point.  Childbirth did not sound like a very pleasant experience.  Perhaps his method really was better.
They walked to his laboratory hand in hand, discussing the benefits of certain allelic combinations over others.  The conversation was a bit one-sided, but the normally chatty Jacey did not mind.  They worked together, Vexen teaching Jacey DNA extraction techniques and explaining how to properly splice the strands together.  She watched in awe as he performed the complex reactions necessary to create a living organism.
Many hours later, their labor complete, Jacey leaned into Vexen's arms, exhausted.  She gazed lovingly at the small test tube on the table in front of them.  Safe within it was growing a tiny spark of life – their first baby, the child they had created together.
A KH fanfic for my friend :iconjaceyrae:
Vexen belongs, of course, the the Kindom Hearts people
and Jacey belongs to herself, and, well, sorta to Vexen...
